Skin Tags Removal

Also known as Acrochordons or Fibrous polyps, Skin Tags are small protruding lumps which commonly appear on the under armpits, neck, groin area, eyelids, cheeks, under the breasts, inside of the upper thigh area and other areas of the body where the skin is frequently rubbed. In short they occur as a result of rubbing against skin leading to growth in the Skin Folds and Creases.

Skin Tags are said to be caused by blood vessel and bunches of collagen trapped inside the skin's thicker part. They can be either smooth or irregular and though they match your skin's color they can possess a deeper pigmentation like that of a mole and can be found in singles or in multiples.

Skin tags occur predominantly in middle aged people than children and both men and women are susceptible to them as they age. They can occur either after pregnancy or weight gain and are more likely seen in obese people as well as people with Type 2 diabetes. In addition, they are common in people with a family history of skin tags.

Surgical Excision
It involves a process known as biopsy wherein a sample of your skin tag is taken to find whether it is a tag not a mole or any other growth. Once it's confirmed that it is indeed a Tag, then the surgery procedure follows.

During the surgery, the skin tag is cut off using a sharp knife or scissors or scalpel. After removing the skin tag, hard pressure is applied on the affected area to stop the bleeding process. Later antiseptic is used to prevent infection and ensure that the skin surface dos not get irritated. Surgical excision provides instant result by removing the skin tags completely.

Shave Excision
Similar to Surgical Excision, Shave Excision process uses a shave instrument called Dermablade to shave off the skin tag leaving the skin surface smooth. This is commonly done on small skin growth because larger growth tends to bleed more.

Both the procedures use predominantly a local anesthetic or a cream to ensure that the patient experiences less pain when the skin tag is removed.
