What is Subcision Acne Scar treatment?
A surgical procedure conducted for eliminating depressed cutaneous scars and wrinkles. This is also known as subcutaneous incisional surgery. This is performed using a special hypodermic needle inserted through a puncture into the skin surface. The sharp edge of the needle helps to break fibrotic strands that are anchoring down your skin. The process helps the development of the new collagen deposition caused by wound healing and thus leads to cosmetic improvement of the scar.
What are the indications for subcision ?
The subcision procedure varies according to different factors like; type, location, and severity of scarring, and patient preference and expectations.
Subcision may be used for the treatment of:
How is subcision performed?
The process is done by moving the needle back and forth in a fanning pattern under the scar tissue while simultaneously injecting lidocaine or saline in those channels. This method of injection of a fluid component, particularly that of lidocaine, can both decrease the pain as well as inflate the scar, allowing more collagen regrowth and wound growth factors to fill the "gaps" created. Subcising the scar is more effective and has faster healing time unless scars have a significant epidermal component in addition to their dermal component.
The exact number of treatments varies according to the patient. Multiple treatments are done for better results.
What are the benefits?
Compared to other treatments, subcision exhibits many advantages.
